What a treat we have for you today! We’re so happy to be revealing the beautiful cover for The Wondrous Prune written by Ellie Clements with illustrations by Chaaya Prabhat.
But first, a bit about the book.
The Wondrous Prune is about 11 year old Prune Robinson, a Black girl who’s been uprooted to a new town by her single mum along with her troublesome older brother.
Prune struggles to settle in and is being bullied but doesn’t want to burden her hard-working Mum, so when her drawings start coming to life she keeps it a secret too. Before long, her brother is in danger and Prune realises she can’t hide her magical superpower forever; in fact, it might just be the one thing that brings her family back together and saves them all.
We were lucky to get an advanced review copy of The Wondrous Prune and Lily enjoyed it so much especially as she also loves drawing (although none of hers have come to life just yet!)
The Wondrous Prune is perfect for children age 9+ and we loved the empowering message about accepting who you are and that you can achieve anything you want.
