Grown: The Black Girl’s Guide to Glowing Up

Melissa Cummings – Quarry and Natalie A. Carter, the fab duo from Black Girls Book Club have written a guidebook for teen Black British girls that reads like advice from older sisters and covers everything Black girls need to navigate the teen years + beyond. Part workbook, advice, tips and, resources, Grown is essential reading for Black girls everywhere ๐Ÿ’…๐Ÿพ

A celebration of Black British girlhood, illustrated by the fantastic Dorcas Magbadelo who makes every page feel like a treat and with a forward by *the* Mel B, GROWN inspires us to be unapologetic about who we are and who we want to be.

I love how Melissa and Nat weaved their advice throughout the book supplemented by different experts and covering everything from skincare, hair, relationships and career advice ๐Ÿค‘๐Ÿ’ฐ

When I finished reading Grown: The Black Girls Guide to Glowing Up, I have to admit I had a little tear in my eye. It’s exactly the book I needed growing up and it was hard not to feel a bit wistful about how much easier things could have been if I’d have had this book back then. I’m so thankful that Lily and other Black girls will have the chance to read it as they grow up.

GROWN is out now. Get it for the Black girls in your life and if you don’t know any buy a copy to donate to a school near you!

Thank you to Beatrice May at Bloomsbury for sending us a review copy!
