Amplifying great children's books

Tight

Tight by Torrey Maldonado.jpg

TIGHT by Torrey Maldonado is an amazing book that is very true to life and has endless detail all throughout whilst being a fun and interesting read. I like how the author carefully weaves in important life lessons that the reader can learn from.

The main protagonist of the book is Bryan, a 6th grader who loves superhero comics and drawing. The story follows him as he navigates the complex maze that is adolescence and staying true to himself whilst internally battling whether it’s better to be feared or liked.

One day his parents introduce him to Mike, a seventh grader who is popular and gets good grades. Little do they know that he secretly skips school, hops turnstiles and subway surfs. He convinces Bryan to do all this stuff with him but finally he snaps, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH …

This book was so good that I didn’t want it to end!
